We prefer to act as a company's lead investor and we stay active with the organizations we fund long after the financing process. As lead investor we are in the optimal position to move quickly in bringing to bear the resources that only a truly global investor can provide -- critical knowledge of foreign markets, the ability to attract marquee customers and channel partners in key territories, and access to talented executives and directors across the globe to help round out a company's core management team, advisors, and boards of directors.
Our portfolio companies often view us as a virtual extension of their management teams -- both available and eager to give advice and counsel on market strategy, key hires, channel partner opportunities and financing strategy. However, while Citron Capital remains a committed, active investor we hold one unshakable belief: great companies are built by great entrepreneurs and management teams, not investors.
Multi-stage orientation
We work with companies at all stages -- at the earliest inception of a truly exciting, well-researched opportunity and at later stages when a more established company reaches a critical inflection point in its growth. This continual involvement with our portfolio companies through multiple stages of development and multiple financings serves many purposes. We believe that the capital an investor provides is only one aspect of an investor's true value and its responsibility to its portfolio companies and limited partners. Our ability to add value as advisors and partners over a company's lifecycle has ultimately been of greatest importance to many of the executive teams we have worked with. Additionally, our substantial capital base provides our portfolio companies with a measure of comfort that as their businesses grow and their financial needs increase, we will be there to support their endeavors with the capital necessary to fund the next evolution of their growth.
