Submission Criteria
Sending a plan to Citron Capital

While we welcome unsolicited submissions, it is important that entrepreneurs and management teams develop their offering materials and supporting collateral as completely and thoroughly as possible before submitting them for consideration. Given the volume of investment requests the Firm receives, it is unlikely that a plan will be given serious consideration if it does not closely conform to the following guidelines:

Thoroughness

For early stage opportunities, the Firm has a strong preference for receiving executive summaries over business plans at the initial stages of evaluation. A high premium is placed on brevity. A good executive summary rarely needs to exceed 5-7 pages, exclusive of attachments; however, a longer summary will not be summarily refused if a longer document is warranted. Please see to it that your summary includes the most essential information we will need in order to fully evaluate your opportunity. A good executive summary will have complete, well-researched and well-supported sections on:

  • Market size
  • Market Need, Problem or Opportunity Addressed
  • Product/Service offered
  • Technological & Market risks
  • Discussion on Defensible Technologies/Skills/IP
  • Competitive Landscape analysis and an identification of current and potential competitors
  • Evidence of a firm understanding of market dynamics/drivers/pitfalls
  • Team Biographies
  • Funds Sought and Utilization
  • Financial Summary with realistic, well-conceived projections

Later stage investment or buyout opportunities are requested to submit all the above in their executive summary, along with a full business plan.

Referrals

As with most private equity or venture investors, we rely heavily upon our existing relationships in the industry and in professional service providers to bring us quality investment opportunities. Given the large number of plans we receive annually, we rarely have the opportunity to give every submission the time and attention it deserves. For this reason, the best way to ensure that your plan is given a full and thorough evaluation is to send it to us once it has been reviewed by someone with whom we have a professional relationship or have worked with in the past. Our numerous relationships with other successful investors, entrepreneurs, investment bankers, and attorneys provide us with some of our best investment opportunities.
